Der Imperativ (du)
Imperativ: du
The informal du form, and three special verbs: haben, sein, werden.
How to build the du form
- Start from the du form of the verb and remove the ending: -st is removed (nimmst → nimm, gehst → geh, machst → mach).
- If the du form ends in -t (not -st), remove the -t: isst → iss.
- Verbs that add e (wartest): the -st is removed, so warte.
- Verbs with ä in the du form: the ä becomes a: fährst → fahr, läufst → lauf, schläfst → schlaf.
