kein: negating nouns

• kein negates nouns that are indefinite (ein, eine, ein) or have no article.
• It comes directly before the noun it negates.
• The ending of kein depends on the gender of the noun.

kein or keine?

nicht: negating everything else

• nicht negates everything that kein does not: verbs, names, adjectives and so on.
